ALL our walks lead along fieldroads, ancient footpaths and donkey paths, partly cross-country.
EACH walk has its own character regarding scenery, views, vegetation, places of interest, coffee stop and taverna after the walk.

VULTURES and VIEWS of the PRASSANO GORGE
The cliffs of the Prassano Gorge are huge and imposing. We‘ll see them from different angles. Vultures have their homes there in inaccessible caves. If we are lucky they will be setting off in the morning, slowly rising and using thermals in the air.
Further on the walk leads through hilly landscape, an area with varied green vegetation. In Chromonasteri we see a former Venetian palace, now an army museum.
tuesday
Unforgettable: the MOUNDROS GORGE
A short visit to a small monastery in the village Roustika introduces this walk. Then we follow a very old mule path and walk through a beautiful valley. Walking through the Moundros gorge offers you an experience you will not lightly forget.
In between huge rocks and following the bends of a riverbed we make our way under oleander bushes and plane trees.
wednesday
NATURE in all its BEAUTY
This walk takes us to the surroundings of Kaloniktis and Palelimnos, two villages of inland Crete which have kept their own character. In amongst the different shades of green we cross a small river and walking uphill we pass a sheepfold further on. We walk on field roads and old footpaths. Sometimes with wide views all around, then through bushy terrain. An area of natural beauty and colourful vegetation!
thursday
CRETAN LANDSCAPE and HISTORY
Colourful nature in all its beauty, ancient olive trees, fossil shells, picturesque villages and a local folk museum in Amnatos are all included in this walk. We visit the former garden of the Monastery of Arkadi and in the village of Pikris we see the decorated arch of a Venetian gateway.
There is an abundance of flowers, also orchids in springtime.
friday
POTSHERDS and ANCIENT OLD ROADS
First this route gradually ascends to the remains of Falanna with many potsherds from the distant past. Up there we have magnificent views of the Ida Mountains. Later on we walk through typical Cretan villages, connected by ancient old paths. As if we were going back in time!
The walk ends in Kare, at the foot of Mount Vrisinas.
saturday
The lush and magnificent river GORGE OF MILI
This route will take us through fascinating countryside. It is an area of abundant and colourful vegetation. We walk through the imposing and very green gorge of Mili - a valley of former mills - crossing a small stream several times. In the gorge there is the deserted village of Mili, almost covered up by the lush vegetation! Further we walk along tracks and mule-paths.
Later splendid views of the town of Rethymnon and the coast will be the reward for our efforts.
sunday
VENETIAN TOWERS
and
OLIVES
Walk in the surroundings of Maroulas, once a Venetian fortified village. A route through different villages with both traditional village life and new estates. Quite a contrast!
On the way we will see two Byzantine churches with remains of frescoes. The walk offers many sea views in a hilly area with silver-green olive groves.
